Refugio County (Refugio County)
Refugio County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 6,741. Its county seat is Refugio. The county originated as a municipality of Mexico in 1834 and was classified as a county in 1837.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 818 sqmi, of which 48 sqmi (5.8%) are covered by water.

Indigenous peoples have inhabited the Americas for thousands of years. Beginning in 1607, British colonization led to the establishment of the Thirteen Colonies in what is now the Eastern United States.
